The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) was founded in 1940 and serves as the major umbrella organization for Ukrainians in the United States. The UCCA is a cultural, political, social, and educational organization. It supports reestablishment of a free and independent Ukraine, serves as an information clearinghouse, publishes brochures, journals, and books on Ukraine, and organizes concerts and other events. The Educational Council oversees the Ukrainian schools, with enrollments of 29,000 pupils in 75 schools. The UCCA also maintains a library and archives, and publishes The Ukrainian Quarterly.
