A lawyer, educator, and editor, Matthew Stachiw (1895-1978) was born in Nushche, Ukraine. He received his LL.D. from the University of Prague after serving with the Ukrainian Army 1918-1920, then practiced law, taught at various universities, and served as editor and contributor of many publications. He was active in numerous Ukrainian American organizations.
