| Abstract: | Accession # 2003-MS25 contains opening section Siitonen's memoirs along with misc photocopied photographs and a letter from Carl Forslund to Reino Hannula regarding Forslund's involvement in Spanish Civil War. Papers consist of an English translation of the play Atti Smith (Mother Smith) by Hilja Koski, believed to have been written in the 1930s, depicting a Finnish American family's experiences in connection with the Spanish Civil War; Siitonen's reflections on Koski, with whom he was acquainted; and a Finnish typescript of the play Iloinen Harbori (Happy Harbor), set in Ashtabula, OH, and adapted from a novel of the same title believed to have been written in the 1920s. | |
