HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Michigan Grand Lodge was the thirteenth OSIA lodge chartered. Most of its activity focused on the Detroit area, but by 1961 it had become inactive. Meetings of the Grand Council were re-initiated in 1981 and the Grand Lodge was formally reactivated in 1982. Local lodges are now scattered throughout the state. Since 1915, 26 local lodges and five junior lodges have been created in Michigan.
