Dates: 1915-1986
Abstract: Collection consists of family correspondence between Antti Kopra and his relatives in Finland, also his children Leo, Weikko, Lennart and Esther and other correspondents. Antti Kopra resided in Butte, Montana, and San Francisco, California, and maintained correspondence with several relatives in Finland. Included are photographs, newspaper clippings, copies of articles, postcards, printed matter and other materials documenting the life and work of the various Kopra family members, materials pertaining to Antti, Ester (Saksinen) and Lennart Kopra are particularly rich.

PROVENANCE

Collection donated to the IHRC Archives by Martha Kopra of Austin, Texas, in 2009-2014. The materials were compiled, organized and annotated by Martha Kopra.

HISTORICAL SKETCH

Antti Kopra (1890-1968) and Ester Elisabeth Saksinen (1884-1954) arrived in New York City on November 21, 1914, from Finland and raised four children in the United States and Canada.
