PROVENANCE

Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Latvian Studies Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1996.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Aleksanders Janek was born on November 28, 1891 in Latvia. He studied in St. Petersburg and at the University of Riga. Immigrated to the United States in 1950 as a displaced person. He settled in Three Rivers, Michigan, and became a professor at the Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He taught chemistry as well as western civilization clasess. Retired in 1963. Died in 1970 (21st October).
