Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, NJ), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2009. Gristel Ramler and Birgit Nurme of the National Archives in Tallin, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.
13.07.1899 - 27.08.1990 Gävle, Sweden Born in Tartu, Estonia. Until 1935 Võsso/Wõsso. Wife: Alide Võsu (nee Mänd, married in 1929); sons: William (1930) and Allan (1933). Participated in the Estonian War of Independence. 1919 graduated Tartu Secondary Commercial School. 1919-1920 studied at the University of Tartu (chemistry). 1924 graduated Estonian Military School (Tondi). Participated in WWII, Naval Senior Lieutenant. 1941 in prison camp in Ebenrode and Staplack (East-Germany). Emigrated to Sweden in 1944, gained Swedish citizenship in 1958
Collection is organized into two folders: 1.Manuscript of memoirs by A. Võsu (typewriting, 183 p and additions) 2. "Sõdadest ja hädadest" and two other writings of fiction by A. Võsu 1957, 1980 (typewriting)
