PROVENANCE

Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, NJ), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2009. Gristel Ramler and Birgit Nurme of the National Archives in Tallinn, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.

HISTORICAL SKETCH

Emigrated to the USA before the WWII. Established the New York Estonian Male Chorus and was related to the New York Estonian War of Independence Veterans Male Chorus

Collection is organized into four folders:

1. Album of the music sheets of the New York Estonian Male Chorus

Collected and systematised articles and caricatures from U.S. Newspapers (1940-1949) about Estonia and Estonians Housed in Lakewood (03.03.2009): Personal foto collection 1920 - 1967; photos of NY Estonian War of Independence Veterans Male Chorus; fotos and negatives of the NY Estonian Male Chorus
