Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, New Jersey), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2011. Gerli Raadik and Peeter Väljas of the National Archives in Tallinn, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.
Helen, Tobias-Dusberg (also known as Tobias-Duesberg, maiden name was Tobias) was born on 11.07.1919 in New York, USA. She was a composer and an organist. 1943 she graduated Conservatory of Tallinn in organ, but her studies involved also music composition. 1943 she studied in Berlin University of Music in organ and composition. After this she stayed in Geislingen displaced persons camp and participated in concert activities of Estonian Music Troupes. 1949 emigrated to USA. 1951 graduated the Guilment Organ School in New York masters class and the Music School of Manhattan in composition. Since 1951 she worked as pedagogue in Music School of Manhattan. She has also performed as an organist. In Germany she married to Wilhelm Duesberg who was a linguist. Father: Rudof Tobias was born on 29.05.1873 in parish Käina, Hiiumaa and died 29.10.1918 in Berlin, Germany.
