Movie Night at the Library
THE MOVIE "BLIND CHANCE" WILL BE SHOWN AT THE POLISH AMERICAN LIBRARY, 2514 CENTRAL AVENUE NE, MINNEAPOLIS ON MAY 30 AT 7:00 PM. IN POLISH WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES. FREE. EVERYONE IS INVITED.
"Blind Chance" ("Przypadek") was directed by Krzysztof Kie¶lowski and stars Bogus³aw Linda, one of Poland's most famous actors. "Blind Chance" focuses on what can happen in the outcome of one's life just by the simple act of fate. The movie presents three possible outcomes of one man's life based upon a chance. It also takes place during Poland's martial law, so the historical and political messages are unmistakable, as Kie¶lowski paints a picture of Poland as a state of instability during communism's iron fist. Because of that, it was banned in Poland for five years before it released in theaters. It was also the basis for the 1998 movie "Sliding Doors" starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Polish American Library, 2514 Central Avenue NE, Minneapolis is open every Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. It contains 3,500 articles including books in English and Polish, audio books, CD's, and VHS and DVD movies either in English or in Polish with English subtitles. Everybody may use the resources. PACIM members may check-out materials for one month with a one-month renewal period.
